Things Are Quiet

Things have been quiet on every front, Despite the Fake Veneer I am not making a crap load of money. In fact I'm borderline depressive, poor and really not happy with my life. There I said it. Feel Better Saying It.
You May have noticed I havent posted much this year, reason for that is theres been nothing worth posting. I decided that unless I had something worth saying I wouldn't post. A New Year Resolution I have actually kept.

Starting from Today we revisit that Little Land called Logopolis, did I mention 30 Days worth? From Today I will be posting all-new Strips. And furthermore over this Run they will be Handrawn and somewhat returning to the ol' style of yore as to churn them out regular so to speak. Back to Basics I guess is what I'm trying to say atleast for now. There was a certain charm in my drawings (that was me that said that by the way)

How To Be A Red Licorice Girl

To Be a Red Licorice Model, You Must be 18+, you have to have a Natural Beauty beyond the Makeup. You also need something called 'Charisma & Manners' Leave the Attiude at Home. Thats why I like to meet people first because the Internet is so fake. Many a Time have I met a Model only to reject them for the Book because of their Negativity and lack of Substance! This Book is not going to be Full of Diva's but Women who I Hope You Will Fall In Love With.

Reed Richards

I guess Marvel Comics decided that adapting the Movie Version of the Fantastic Four into an Animated Series was a BAD idea and have begun a Complete Reboot. I'd personally like to see a Return to the Classic Kirby designs. HannaBarbera produced a series in the Late Sixties. Despite the Strange Colours used (Galactus was Green) it was a fun show!!
And Don't Get me Started on Super Hero Squad that show is an Abomination.

Deborah Twiss Joins Red Licorice

This is FANTASIC and BRILLIANT news all at the same time for my art book 'Red Licorice' and I need to share. At the beginning of the year during a trip to Melbourne I went to the movies to see Kick-Ass I not only left Loving that Film, but I also Fell in Love with Character Actress Deborah Twiss. If your thinking Huh, Who?? Was she in Kick-Ass? Yes, she was, despite being presented in a Clark Kent type of manner Deborah played the Student Teacher Crush Mrs Zane for the first too short few moments of that film. Despite this she has made a HUGE impact on not only myself but on every Fanboy (and probably a few Fangirls) that had the honour of being an Audience Member!

Deborah has been on some well known shows, FRINGE and Law & Order to name a few.
I felt it was my duty that day after leaving Kick Ass to get her on board the RED project as she truly belongs in it and I know you agree!

Well Guess What?? I've spoken to her directly and shes just one of the loveliest people you could ever meet the lure of Hollywood has not broken her. So over the next month I will be working closely with Deborah to make sure that the Art will be the best quality it can possibly be and that it shows her Awesome Picturesque Beauty. With it taking Pride of Place in the Book for you all to see and hopefully a good Publisher. Hopefully with Deb on board we can get even more beautiful women on board this project besides the other 40 odd pretty girls we now have!

Again a BIG THANKYOU goes out to Deborah for taking this seriously!

MELBURTON

Before I start one thing I had to reinstate the moderating comments, its unfortunate but the spam doesnt get detected unless it is on. Yes its stupid, so sorry.

Today I visited the Tim Burton Exhibit, it was simply......... Amazing. My Favorite parts have to be the MarsAttacks maquettes, armatures with stop motion animation tests (before they went CGI) and unseen artwork from the film. As well the puppets from his first Stop Motion Short 'Vincent' was like touching God. And the corpse bride stuff was just flawless. The following is the photos I was allowed to take.,
The Giant Snake that hangs from an Old Entrance. Terrifying for children much?
Heres the Real Entrance just follow the Skeleton Hand
Inside Hangs this BlueBoy
Yes Little Timmy there really is a Batmobile.
And Finally AbbaWorld wait what? How did this get in here?

Deadly Angel

I'm in Melbourne Briefly, here for an Exhibit, Which Exhibit? Go follow me on TWITTER to find out. I am doing LIVE updates while staying here.

Heres a new Red Licorice image, and yes its another Angela White. Shes a great Muse, my favorite AND she supplied me with an image to use for RED.This is very WWII era inspired pin up art which I know she is a fan of.

Also remember the ImagineDaily interview I did back in May? Well I was delighted to be asked to supply their new banner this month. Go check it out. The Superheroines name is the 'SCARLET STARLET'

Lastly and Finally Blogger have got a Better Anti-Spammer programme in place, to seek out all those all horrible chinese vitamin scammers. So after two weeks I am lifting the Moderating Comments to an Open Forum again. Ain't that Great?

Star Trek Enterprise

On my DvD Turntable I have 4 Seasons of Star Trek Enterprise to watch. It suprised me by how many seasons I had seen It must be around season 3 I didnt lose interest. Thats Right I 'Didnt lose interest' it was the fact that at the time it was on one of the worst channels in Australia that liked to move it around their schedule SciFi is not appreciated as much as sport here and I couldnt give a damn about Sport.

Its so Great to Catchup finally. So much so I just had to draw the lovely T'Pol played by the more lovely 'Jolene Blalock' I think shes much Hotter than Seven of Nine ever was.

Bat-Track

Back in Time yet again with an Early Batgirl it seems most of these past drawings are Seven Years Old. I will have a couple new things up at the beginning of next month. Theres alot wrong with this picture but If anything it shows an evolution around this time I started drawing big eyes and heads on most of my girls. And really havent stopped doing that. I can do Anatomical but wheres the fun in that?

Its seems I am not the only one to get off from the PIXAR bandwagon after TS3, still if they offered me a job tomorrow I would probably, maybe possibly still, consider it.

Two Years

I'm trying not to dwell on the past, but with Comic Con happening this weekend. I can't help but feel sorrow at how hard I tried a couple of years ago to make it Big there. For all Intent and Purposes it did, Everything seemed to be happening for me back then but as I write this my world has crumbled All the contacts I have known have either moved on or just dont care and refuse to answer my calls.

So I'm trying to forget about it, its just not worth it. You meet people they promise stuff and then they let you down its the way of the world. I will not mention names I'm not that petty, I still want to see my real american friends soon, but as for a career I believe that ship has truly sailed. Time to move on with the time I have left into other avenues. If I were to ever worked in animation full time it would have already happened by now.

It hasn't I need to move on........
I'm wrapping things up with art throughout the years, this piece was done for the Late Great Mike Wieringo back in 2003 of a character he designed for comicbook Tellos. I remember designing it very Disneyesque because he loved that style when I read an interview with him. He actually saw it and loved it whether he really meant it or not, it was very nice of him to say so. We all still very much miss his Artwork and Wisdom.

Red Madi

Another One from the Red Licorice arty stuff. This time the Very Beautifully Cutey Madi.
At the Moment I have some interested parties in the book. I want to aim this for Mass Market Appeal, not to feed the non-existant ego. As someone pointed out 'Dont expect a Borders Distribution'. Well I'm not.
However I want this Far Reaching and able to be Purchased anywhere not just over the Internet is that too much to ask? But if this sees Print I want to be in control of my work. If a 15 year old can get published a 'How to Draw Manga' book then why the hell can't I? You just know they are out there!

In Blog News I've opened up the Sharing a bit more in case people want to publish this on there Facebook, Blog, Twitter or Anything Social Really. As well I've added a 'dislike' to the blogs reactions. If you do Dislike something however I would like an explanation as to why if its not too much trouble.

Toy Story 3 I saw it, and I have to say forget about being part of a trilogy. The Story is Predictable and some of the Direction very Shoddy. My main concern was that while watching was the complete disappearance of BoPeep with only a Passing mention. I doubt very much that Woody would let her go so easily and it seemed a bit hard to swallow. I love Pixar but I am growing ever concerned about their movies. I still cant to this day get passed the first 15 minutes of CARS. ugh awful.

For Posterity

I recently bought a little gadget that connects via USB to old IDE and SATA hard drives that are still operational. I've been going through  some really old stuff from a measley 400 mb others are a whopping 10GB ahhh back then we were spoiled for SPACE. The Following Pictures were done just after I had left College circa 2002. So for Posterity I felt that I need to get these out there Alot have Never Been Seen Before or they are drawings I have rarely shown. Its been good to revisit and look back at some of my Original Artwork from back in the day when I was much Younger, Brainier and was still learning Adobe. I'll try not to edit them too much and keep them as Original as possible since these are from the Original files some of the Fonts dont exist anymore and I've had to replace those but these were drawn on something like Illustrator 8 so its awhile ago..... Some I have Totally forgot I did while others I remember like it was yesterday.

Doctor Who and the Break of Doom!

Being a huge Fan of Doctor Who and since the latest series Wrapped Up in Britain Last week, I thought it would be a nice break from what I'm now calling 'The Red' project to draw his latest Incarnation in the form of Matt Smith. With his Massive Forehead and No Eyebrows and ugly demenour He seemed a right fit to play the Doctor. Although sometimes he reminds me a little of the previous Doctor David Tennant he is good. I do like his odd look and having the Fez at the end was a stroke of genius.
The Show itself was a bit of a letdown better than series 4 by a mile but its not his fault he makes a great addition if Only they would get rid of the whole companion schtick with their having another life instead of just getting on having fun with a TimeLord stopping Mad Scientists and Nutty Aliens and I really Dislike the character of Rory which we now seem to be stuck with permanently. Yuck!

While Drawing this week I've watched the entire Series of 'Adam Adamant Lives' and the First and Second Seasons of SLIDERS. Both good shows. Check them out if you haven't already seen them.

Red Lauren

Well Shes more Blue than Red, but theres a reason this its my first Goth for the book. And we need more variety than just Pink skin now dont we?
Well I've got up to more than 20 Models now willing and able to participate in this book. So far the signs of getting it published are weak as I await discussions with publishers.

However some of these maybe available as prints when they are completed. So all may not be lost. TallyHooooooooo!!!

Weird, since stating I couldn't find any models just mere days ago for the RL project. I have since been unindated with all manner of Beautiful Girls wanting to participate. So I guess Red Licorice is Officially Back On atleast I will finish the First 10 images for the publishing sample to shop around to the....... you guessed it Book Publishers.
In other news I'm Jobless but you knew that already, Right?

Spammers Away

So for the last few months I've been recieving Spam Comments that lead to dubious Links mostly in a Chinese/Japanes language. You think one would be thankful at even being left spammed comments but no I'm definately not. If you read any that I have yet to delete please do Not click on of the their hyperLinks I try to inform Blogger everytime that one appears and report them but at the moment it is really a pain to keep up. I wish I could disable them but that would mean removing it all together and I want this an open forum already I have had to remove Anonymous comments. Any Ideas on better security would be greatly appreciated.

Spies Like British!

A Failed attempt at a possible new License agreement with the James Bond Foundation or whatever they call it. I licked these up pretty quick being a fan and all of the original movies. My Intentention was to design all 6 Bonds. Shame really, I think this will go down Like the Bruce Timm drawing a Star Wars Comic that will never be!

Teeny Update

I was able to gather the necessary funds to atleast go ahead and purchase a new laptop. Over the last couple of days I've been spending time updating Windows 7 and all the junk that comes with it. Not to mention adding some familiar software like Adobe and Firefox! As with all new systems there are somethings that it can do that the old PC Lappy couldn't but at the same time there are huge holes in its updating that causes unnecessary bugs with flash players and the like I didnt have with the other. Thankfully I am technically minded to add patches, updates and to google to resolve these problems. Some people arent so lucky!

Since losing the Laptop over the weekend I've been perusing the local computer stores, and after much deliberation I settled on a HP Pavillion Notebook dv6-2120TX which was as cheap as I could afford went in store to check out the laptops before finalising and an old guy approached me and asked where the box was?? Box? I replied yeah the computer bits where are they? I laughed and said "under the keyboard!!" Well what will they think of next?" he said. anyway I thought it was funny!

Some of the Specs, 15.6” High-Definition LED BrightView Infinity Widescreen display.
  • Processor Type: Core i5
  • Processor Speed (Ghz): 2.26
  • Installed RAM (GB): 4
  • Hard Drive Size: 500GB
People have asked if I'm a mac person but I'm more PC, I've worked with both however I like the PC interface plus the software for it is more easily and readily available for it than a Mac.

So now all there is now to do is to make it my own much like I did the last and I need to by some more stickers for the cover.

Dust To Dust

My Beloved Laptop has finally bitten its last Gigabyte. So what does this mean well Spy-Girl will only be available through redbubble since all my work files have been lost but they can still print a pristine print. Thankfully I had the majority of my more important work copied over to an external hard drive and all the Dreamworks stuff had already been sent to the Printer.

This Stuff Happens, and theres no point crying over it. Until everything is back to normal and I have a replacement Laptop then I will be on and off. My apologies to those who have asked me to work with them. Its Winter here and I'll just have to go outside Yuck!

Also the readership of my Imagine Daily interview has done really well, with over a 100 views a day. Thanks again for the support.

Death of Frank

Frank Frazetta has passed away at the age of 82, he accomplished so much over his lifetime something I have yet to even start! I have his Icon book, this was released before his children got all greedy and began to systematically destroy all of his lifes work and him. Its an interesting read!

Imagine Daily Interview

A little while ago I was approached about doing an interview to talk about my art for an Online Magazine thats primarily Artist based. The magazine is called Imagine Daily and the Interview can be found HERE

If you read my regular postings you know how I hate the Limelight. I'd rather just create, make some money and not think about any attention that my art brings I'm so not a fan of Tooting my own Horn I've seen what it has done to most in the industry. Anyway after some thought I decided to do it, just so atleast its out there. I really didn't know what to take from the whole experience I was given some great advice to 'let it be all about myself' so thats what I hope was eventually conveyed.

I didn't want it to be a 'I am a SUPERSTAR' slap on the back. But just show about who I am, what I have done so far and what I hope to still accomplish in the small time I have left. I often get comments that 'Oh wow you've made it' but I havent........ not yet. Maybe I won't, Its still a long LONG way to go. I hope no one envies me theres nothing to be envious of!

But when I do finally get that job at PIXAR I'll be sure to let you know and then we can all go celebrate.

Anyway I hope you get something from the interview, any questions you would like to ask me please feel free!

SupaNova 2010

Last Weekend Melbourne Supanova 2010, was choc full of twilighters sadly. People with plastic fangs and signs saying do not take photos of this Twilight Store Display. Over exorbitant prices on mostly everything and the special 'Supanova' prices were more expensive than those you can find in your local store. However I did manage to get a few little objects that I am now having to take home.

A Fertility Idol Money Box, A Stay Puft Marshmallow Man Piggy Bank, Fourth Doctor Action Figure and old style vinyl Wario.

My Friend Chris Downes Flew over and made it in time for the last few hours on sunday, as the women swooned for him.
Waiting in Line to meet LOTR & StarTrek star Karl Urban, I was so geeked out but just never mention Xena.
I have the worst geek face in the world, but thats artist Extraordinaire George Perez. You had to pay to be on a list to get a sketch dammit.
